A THOUSAND DOORS

In the near future, teleportation has created a revolution: no more cars, no more pollution, no more wars. It is as ubiquitous as smartphones were in the early 2020s. Doctor Henry Becker is the world's leading expert on using the technology to save lives: he is able to remove the tumors by teleporting them out of his patients’ body. He is the strongest proponent of this revolutionary technology, finding new health application every day. But when the police find two John Does, both killed by what appears to be weaponized teleportation, they call Henry to help them understand how the murderer could teleport something inside someone. Henry will have to race against time to solve this murder before his daughter teleports to the moon, and probably to her death. This sweeping and epic novel, covering 10 years of tremendous changes in society, religion, the economy, and how people interact with one another, is at the same time centered and anchored around a very personal story of a father and his daughter. Francis Barel has created a masterful synthesis of everything we love and fear about technology, often at the same time!
